Bio

Rachel’s been inseparable from her camera since discovering the magic of photography at age 12, parasailing high above the jagged coastline of Zihuatenejo, Mexico.

Rachel pursued her passion throughout high school and then at UCSC where she was nominated for the Irwin Memorial Scholarship by Norman Locks, former darkroom assistant to Ansel Adams. After a year studying photography in Granada, Spain and capturing the gypsy life in the Albaicin , she realized the power of telling stories and revealing social truths through powerful visual essays.

During her years as a photojournalist, Rachel was occasionally asked to photograph weddings and the excitement she felt weaving intuitively between passionate, fleeting moments and capturing the unexpected led her to fall in love with the art. Always in the moment, Rachel has an inner knowing, as things are about to unfold, where the action will take place. She’s been awarded two international awards as a member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA).

Balancing busy days of traveling and weddings, Rachel enjoys photographing the quiet beauty of nature. She also hosts “Eve's Garden: How to Bite the Apple,” a Permaculture & sustainability radio show on KOWS, 107.3 fm in Occidental, CA. and on days off, you can always find her in the garden!
